HOUSTON — The House Ethics Committee is looking into Congressman Tom Nehls’ campaign finances.
Right now, we don’t have details of exactly what the committee is looking into. In a release, they noted the matter was sent to them in December of last year.
We reached out to Congressman Nehls’ office on Tuesday for reaction. He responded, denying any ethics violations.
“I look forward to assisting the House Committee on Ethics inquiry into my campaign’s finances," he said in a statement sent by his office. "My campaign has complied with every Federal Election Commission (FEC) law, and my books are open.”
The committee said they will announce what action, if any, it will take by May 10.
Nehls, who represents the 22nd Congressional District, has been in office since 2021. Before that, he served as sheriff of Fort Bend County.
