LAS VEGAS — Why do conspiracy theorists think the NFL engineered the Kansas City Chiefs' trip to the Super Bowl to benefit President Joe Biden?
Let’s face it, there are a lot of conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift - everything from, “She’s a secret Pentagon plant” to claims the billion-dollar pop superstar is “dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce for his money” - yeah, not sure how that one works.
But the latest theory surrounding Ms. Swift claims this Super Bowl showdown was pre-ordained by the NFL to push Democrat propaganda, more specifically that Swift will use her moment in the national spotlight during the game to endorse President Biden.
Critics of the theory point out that the Chiefs probably didn’t need help from the league to make it to the big game. This is their fourth trip to the Super Bowl in five years and, of course, they won last year’s game.
Also, Swift endorsing Biden is not an unprecedented move. Earlier in her career she stayed politically neutral, but in recent years she has made a few endorsements, including backing Biden in 2020.
The other problem with this theory is an endorsement from Taylor Swift is not a political slam dunk. In 2018 when she first dipped her toe in politics, Swift backed the Democrat in Tennessee’s Senate race. Her pick ended up losing the race by double digits. So while she definitely holds sway over her fans' music tastes, her political power is not quite as strong.
