HOUSTON — A firefighter was taken to a hospital to get checked out after battling an apartment fire in west Houston Thursday night, authorities said.
This happened on Westheimer Road west of the Sam Houston Tollway around 7:20 p.m.
Houston Fire Department District Chief Koeppen said the firefighter is expected to be OK and that no other injuries were reported.
In total, 12 apartment units were damaged. Koppen said the fire started on the second floor and units on the lower floor sustained water damage. Red Cross was headed to the scene to provide assistance to displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
