LUBBOCK, Texas -- Thacker Jewelry store in Lubbock is set to offer a gun for free when customers purchase a ring.
"Farming, hunting, ranching; it's all intertwined," store owner Joe Thacker told Lubbock CBS affiliate KLBK-TV. "So, it's just a natural fit for Texas."
The entire store is reportedly on sale, with engagement rings on special. Anyone who buys a ring valued at more than $2,000 will also get a gift certificate for a shotgun or rifle from a Lubbock firearms manufacturer, according to Thacker Jewelry's website.
"The idea, of course, is the word play and the 'old shotgun wedding.' Not going back to the negative connotation, playing off of that. It's been a lot of fun," Thacker told the station.
The promotion reportedly runs Oct. 27-29.
