McKINNEY Investigators at the scene of a deadly house explosion in McKinney say they now believe a gas was used to set off the blasts.
Tab Brewer, 35, who let his estranged wife and five children leave his home moments before he apparently took his own life Friday afternoon, had a propane gas tank inside the house.
According to McKinney police, investigators are now looking into the possibility that Brewer fired a weapon and that the discharge ignited the fumes.
Brewer died at the scene. Investigators are waiting for autopsy results to see ifhe shot himself before the explosions.
Brewer's next-door neighbors were at their home Saturday, which was also destroyed in the explosion.
It's really hard. I think the worst part is seeing my daughter's items just totally gone, said Sara Jones. I don't think it's all quite hit me yet.
Their church and friends are helping them with their loss. They plan to hold fundraisers to help the family.
