Teen running across FM 1960 hit, killed by car in far NE Houston

The driver of a black BMW tried to swerve and avoid hitting the victim. She stayed at the scene and won't face charges, HPD said.

HOUSTON — A teen who was hit by a car while trying to run across FM 1960 Monday morning has died. 

It happened near East Lake Houston Parkway in far northeast Houston just before 7 a.m.  Houston police said the victim ran into the turning lane in front of oncoming traffic. The driver of a black BMW tried to swerve to avoid hitting him but it was too late. 

The teen was rushed to a hospital but he didn't make it. His name hasn't been released.

The driver stayed at the scene and police said she is not facing any charges.
