Three-alarm fire rips through west Houston apartments, displacing about 20 families

The Houston Fire Department said they're not sure what started the fire at the Stonehaven at the Galleria Apartments on Skyline Drive.

HOUSTON — Fire ripped through a west Houston apartment complex on Wednesday, displacing 20 families, according to HFD.

It happened at the Stonehaven at the Galleria Apartments on Skyline Drive east of Hillcroft. The cause of the fire is unknown and there were no injuries reported.

HFD assistant chief Michael Mire said the fire went to three alarms and about 100 firefighters responded to the scene. He also said they were working with the American Red Cross to help the families affected by the fire.

Crews told people to avoid the area while they worked to contain the fire.
