KINGWOOD, Texas -- Children in a Kingwood daycare were moved upstairs as a precaution after some water seeped in Tuesday afternoon.

"It never got above their toes," the director of Kids in Action Daycare told us.

She said rumors that the water was waist-deep aren't true, and the children are safe.

"They are all fine, all upstairs eating snacks and watching movies," she said.

About 30 kids are still at the daycare because their parents haven't been able to pick them up.

Students at Kingwood and New Caney high schools are also safe and sheltering in place until they can be picked up.

As of just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, Houston Police said students at Kingwood High School could be picked up but urged caution as Kingwood at Woodland Hills is blocked due to a down tree, and Northpark Drive is moving slowly due to high water.

Traffic in Kingwood is at a standstill because of flooding and everyone is advised to avoid the area.
