KATY, Texas — There's a new, high-tech Walmart fulfillment center in Katy that you have to see to believe.
It's a place where humans and robots work together to make sure you get what you ordered -- and fast.
The company converted an old store into a new facility on Market Place Drive.
How does it work?
After receiving an online order, a robot retrieves the products and delivers them to an in-store workstation where a Walmart associate checks, bags and delivers the final order.
"Kind of nice to see that it's not eliminating jobs, it's helping create more jobs and helping establish a more efficient system for everybody and it kind of makes everybody's life a lot easier," Walmart Robotics system operator Muayad Bahaj said.
The Katy facility is only the second Walmart fulfillment center in Texas. The other is in Lewisville, which is in North Texas.
