HOUSTON – A gun owner allegedly thought his weapon was unloaded when he fired it and killed a friend, Houston police said Friday.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Spring Valley apartment complex on Long Point near Oak Tree.
Police said several young men, between the ages of 17 and 22, were playing with the gun when it was fired. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died.
One person was taken into custody for questioning, but as of Friday morning police said no charges were filed in the case.
Investigators said the gun belonged to the man who rented the apartment, not the person who was shot.
