Man's medication stuck at Missouri City USPS sorting facility for a week and counting

Dozens have shared their stories with KHOU 11 about their mail being stuck at the USPS sorting facility in Missouri City.

MISSOURI CITY, Texas — A retired engineer in Bellaire joins the list of people who have packages stuck at a Missouri City USPS sorting facility

For Ed Gor, his package isn't something that can be forgotten about. It's a 90-day supply of "maintenance" medication that he needs to treat a long-term health issue.

“It’s one thing for Christmas packages to be delayed a little bit, but I think it’s a different story if they are holding on to medications especially,” Gor said. “I haven’t taken the medicine in about a week.”

Gor originally thought his prescription would arrive sooner after his pharmacy shipped it from Ohio on December 6.

“It had arrived in Missouri City on December 8th, which was last Friday, so I said ‘Wow, okay,’ it should be here maybe by Monday or Tuesday, by Wednesday it had not arrived,” Gor said.

As of Friday, the 73-year-old still hasn’t received the medication he needs, but his pharmacy has already offered to send a replacement shipment through priority mail.

"There should be some prioritization for medication," Gor explained. "Mine doesn't even need to be refrigerated - but other people will have issues."

In addition to Gor, dozens have shared their stories with KHOU 11 about their mail being stuck at the sorting facility in Missouri City, located on Texas Parkway near Lexington Boulevard. Those delays have been made even more pressing because of the holiday shipping rush.

When asked for an update, a USPS representative referred back to statements originally received on Wednesday and Thursday which stated, “Our research indicates all mail and packages are being processed as they are received at the South Houston Local Processing Center (LPC) in Missouri City, TX.”

On Friday, Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) spoke to the media at a dedication ceremony for the newly renamed Leonard Scarella post office in Stafford. Green told KHOU 11 he wanted to get to the bottom of the issues plaguing the sorting facility in Missouri City, which is a part of his congressional district.

“Of course, we want to do all that we can to eliminate these kinds of backlogs, these kinds of things not taking place, and I assure you we will. We will work hard to eliminate any of the concerns being raised,” Green said.

If your package is stuck at the Missouri City USPS sorting facility, call USPS at 1-800-275-8777 or go to their website by clicking here.

Rep. Green said you can also contact his office at (713) 383-9202 or send an email.

You can also visit the congressman’s offices in Missouri City or Houston.
