KHOU 11, Houston s CBS affiliate, continues its longtime commitment to hunger relief in Houston with the KHOU 11 Food Drive benefiting the Houston Food Bank. For 25 years, the annual food drive has encouraged hunger awareness and support, which is especially critical during the summer, as thousands of area children are without free meals provided at school and food pantries often find themselves at their lowest levels.

This year, the KHOU 11 Food Drive invites the community to donate non-perishable food items from July 9 through July 22. Food can easily be dropped off in the Houston Food Bank Red Barrel, located in over 200 area grocery stores. Look for the poster featuring KHOU 11 this Morning Anchors Ron Trevino and Lily Jang. Each Red Barrel is assigned to a neighborhood food pantry so that the food donated in your local store directly serves your neighbors.

Donors can also drop off food with KHOU 11 Food Drive partners Mac Haik Chevrolet, located off the Katy Freeway, and at 21 Good Neighbor Pharmacy locations in the greater Houston area. Houston Food Bank collection boxes will be placed in all partner locations for easy drop off throughout the drive. To find a partner location near you, visit www.MacHaikChevy.com or www.GoodNeighborPharmacy.com.

On Friday, July 20 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., KHOU 11 will host a live donation day in front of the station located at 1945 Allen Parkway, near downtown. The KHOU 11 team plus Houston Food Bank staff and volunteers will be on hand to collect food from generous donors.

The Houston Food Bank feeds 865,000 people each year and provides food and other essentials to nearly 500 hunger relief programs in an 18 county service area. To learn more about the organization, visit www.HoustonFoodBank.org.
