GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas County commissioners may consider scaling back a key indigent health care provision that would reduce the number of people eligible for taxpayer-supported care.
The provision that commissioners adopted in 2009 was a key component in the deal in which the state agreed to rebuild the University of Texas Medical Branch after Hurricane Ike.
At issue on today s agenda is a discussion about the county lowering the eligibility standard, measured as a percentage of federal poverty level, for county residents to receive indigent health care.
