Honduran family moving to Houston from New Orleans vanishes after arriving at East end Greyhound station

The family was heading from New Orleans to Houston. They texted saying they got here, but were never heard from after that.

HOUSTON — A Houston family is desperate to find their missing loved ones after they said they boarded a Greyhound bus from New Orleans to Houston last November and haven't been seen or heard from since

Family members said Steisy Yanira David-Funez, 27, Ramon Ruiz Crisanto, 31, Jazzlyn Esther Ruiz-David, 4, and Dara Ismeray Ruiz-David, 1, were moving to Houston in pursuit of their American Dream.

The family was heading a Greyhound station on Houston’s East End late last year. They texted a family member saying they arrived but they never made it to their next destination.

With a translator, KHOU 11 News spoke with Dilcia Miranda, who is worried about her missing granddaughter and their family.

Miranda said Steisy’s father last saw them go into the Greyhound Terminal in New Orleans.

On Nov. 30, Steisy texted her father saying ‘"Daddy, we’re here."

Miranda said they were going to get something to eat after arriving in Houston. The plan was to meet Ramon’s uncle, but they never showed up.

Steisy’s sister in Honduras said Steisy is a very family-oriented person, and that they stayed in touch every day since moving to the United States last year. The family was traveling with three suitcases.

Miranda said Ruiz Crisanto worked as a barber.

Miranda said they contacted Steisy's cellphone company, Metro PCS. The company said the last time phones were used was on Dec. 1. The phones were then cut off on Dec. 15.

According to the family, the Honduras Consulate of Houston is involved in the investigation. KHOU 11 News has tried reaching them for comment. We’ve also reached out to Greyhound and are waiting to hear back.

The disappearance was reported to New Orleans Police. Anyone with information about the missing family is asked to call detectives at 504-658-6060.
