HPD: Several witnesses to accidental deadly shooting in southeast Houston apartment

Several people stayed at the scene to speak with police, Lt. Bruce with HPD said.

HOUSTON — Homicide investigators with the Houston Police Department responded to the scene of an accidental shooting early Sunday morning, police said.

The shooting was reported before 1 a.m. in the 5100 block of Silver Creek, not far from Galveston Road and Richey.

Police arrived and found a man dead inside an apartment.

“There were several people in the apartment residence,” said Lt. Bruce with HPD. “It appears at this time that I might have been an accidental shooting, in which one person was handling the weapon and it went off.”

Several people stayed at the scene to speak with police, Bruce said.

At this time no charges or names have been released.
