Living in fear | Philanthropist describes being targeted by alleged serial stalking suspect

She said she would have anxiety and fear in public because she didn’t know if the person who had been stalking her for decades would ever come forward.

HOUSTON — Living in fear is how some of the alleged victims of an accused serial stalker describes their lives.

Robin Chiswell is charged with felony stalking for targeting several high-profile Houstonians including Dr. Carolyn Farb.

“Evil and menacing and sick,” Dr. Farb said.

Those are just a few of the words the philanthropist and author used to describe a man she’s never met.

“He says the most despicable, cruel things that anyone could say,” she said.

For the last 30 years, Dr. Farb has been a part of an unwanted and one-sided pen pal exchange with Chiswell.

“Not that it’s comforting but we’re all going to be much happier when he is where he deserves to be for what he has done to each and every one of us," she said.

Chiswell is accused of terrorizing Dr. Farb through letters and cards.

The most hurtful involved her son who has passed away.

“He writes notes, ‘Is Jake there?’ He knew he wasn’t there so I just thought what kind of sick person is this that would do something like that,” Dr. Farb said.

She said she would have anxiety and fear in public because she didn’t know if the person who had been stalking her for decades would ever come forward.

“You’re very vulnerable when you’re out there,” she said. “When you get up to make a speech you feel like someone could attack you, or shove you or shoot you.”

KHOU 11 News visited Chiswell in jail.

During visitation hours Chiswell came out and when asked about the allegations against him, he only had two words to say: “I’m sorry.”

He was asked if he knew Dr. Farb.

He extended an arm out, said ‘Thank you,’ and walked away.

It’s an apology Dr. Farb is not going accept and a person for which she will show any sympathy.

“After the anguish and fear that he has caused me all these years I don’t feel sorry for him,” Dr. Farb said. “There’s so excuse.”

Dr. Farb said since Chiswell’s arrest several people have reached out to her to let her know they’ve also be terrorized by him.

She wants people to reach out to Houston Police directly at (713) 308-3100 if anyone has any information that can help build a case against Chiswell.
