HPD: Drunk driving may have caused fatal 6-car accident in Fifth Ward

The Houston Police Department said a white pickup truck may have caused the accident. Police said the driver may have been drunk and driving at a high rate of speed.

HOUSTON - One person is dead and three were sent to the hospital Friday night after a six-car accident in Houston's Fifth Ward.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Liberty Road.

The Houston Police Department said a white pickup truck may have caused the accident. Police said the driver may have been drunk and driving at a high rate of speed.

The driver and a woman were ejected from the truck due to the impact of the crash. The woman died on scene.

The driver and two others from different cars were sent to a hospital. The driver will be tested for intoxication.

Police said they are talking to witnesses and gathering evidence to figure out how this happened.

The District Attorney's Office will determine if any charges will be filed.
