Man, woman killed in wrong-way wreck on I-45 southbound near Tidwell

A 23-year-old woman was killed after a vehicle going the wrong way on the North Freeway crashed into her. The 26-year-old driver of the other vehicle also died.

HOUSTON — Two people are dead in what police said was a wrong-way crash on the southbound lanes of the North Freeway overnight.

The driver of a black Honda Accord was going northbound in the southbound lanes of I-45 near Tidwell, according to the Houston Police Department. He slammed head-on into a blue Toyota Rav4. 

The 23-year-old woman driving the Rav4 was killed and so was the 26-year-old driver of the other vehicle. Their names haven't been released. 

The crash happened at 4:10 a.m. but the southbound lanes of the North Freeway were shut down for seven hours while HPD investigated. Houston TranStar reported the crash was cleared at 11:13 a.m.
