Off-duty Pct. 6 deputy shoots at suspect in northwest Harris County, Houston police says

Police said the suspect is on the run and there's no indication if he was hit or hurt in any way.

HOUSTON — An off-duty Harris County Precinct 6 deputy shot at a suspect Saturday afternoon in northwest Harris County, according to the Houston Police Department.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. on Tanner Road near Burnside Lane in northwest Harris County.

Police said the deputy was at a business for personal matters when the suspect approached the location with his face covered.

According to HPD, the deputy saw the guy looking into parked vehicles before getting inside one of them and take off. A witness, who said he saw him breaking into a vehicle, tried to block the suspect's car with his own.

The suspect then reversed in the direction of the deputy and that's when the deputy fired multiple shots into the vehicle. Police aren't sure if he was injured.

The suspect got away in a black BMW, which was later recovered about three to four miles away from the business.

Police don't have a description of what the suspect was wearing when he was last seen.

The deputy will be put on administrative leave while this case is being investigation by the HPD's Special Investigations Unit and Precinct 6.
