HOUSTON — It's going to be hot and sticky in Houston this Memorial Day weekend so a dip in a nice, cool swimming pool will sound tempting.

There won't be many City of Houston pools to choose from, though.

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department announced Friday that only six of the city's 38 pools will open this weekend. They blame the destruction caused by last week's storms and a lifeguard shortage.

“We are eager to provide Houstonians with a safe place to cool off during the summer. At the same time our priority is to ensure their safety while visiting our pools,” HPARD Direction Kenneth Allen said.
