Woman believed to be victim of dog attack after sons find her body near bayou with bite marks

"Just saw her in the water and then I jumped down and I recognized that it was her, it's my mom," her son said. "I'll never see her again."

HOUSTON — A woman's family is grieving after her body was found near a northwest Houston bayou. She's believed to be a victim of a dog attack.

Her family said 79-year-old Sau Nguyen typically goes out for walks and did so Wednesday afternoon, but never came back. When she didn't return, her sons went searching for her.

Her body was found by a bayou near their neighborhood and she appeared to have multiple bite marks.

"Just saw her in the water and then I jumped down and I recognized that it was her, it's my mom," Uan Nguyen said. "She's a beautiful woman, beautiful mom. That's it, I'm never going to see her again. I will miss her."

Neighbors told KHOU 11 that dogs would frequently escape one of the homes in the area and it was a known issue. One neighbor said she told the victim to be careful and look out for the dogs on her walk Wednesday.

"They attacked the neighbors. They even killed some of the dogs, pets, you know, the little small chihuahuas and everything," one neighbor said. "We lost a life because of wild dogs."

Harris County Public Health, which oversees Animal Control, said seven dogs were surrendered by their owner.

Investigators said Sau's death remains under investigation and an autopsy will determine her cause of death.
