HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Thirty people were hurt Wednesday morning when two school buses were involved in a collision with a CenterPoint utility truck on Highway 290 near Fairbanks North Houston.
District officials said the buses were from Navasota ISD and contained fifth-graders from John C. Webb Elementary. They were on a field trip. Twenty-five students and five adults were transported to area hospitals.
“Minor injuries, and bumps and bruises,” said Navasota ISD superintendent Dr. Stu Musick. “They just wanted to check them out a little. More than half of them have already been released and are heading home and should be there shortly.”
By Wednesday evening, all 25 children had been treated and released.
The five injured adults were all staff members. There's no word on whether they were admitted to the hospital.
A total of 94 students or staff were on the three buses in the caravan.
Musick said the utility truck rear-ended the third bus and pushed it into the middle bus.
