HUFFMAN, Texas – Deputies suspect texting while driving may have been to blame for a fatal rollover that left a 21-year-old woman dead overnight.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, it happened just after midnight early Thursday in the 30000 block of Huffman Cleveland Road.

Deputies said a 21-year-old woman was heading south in her truck when the vehicle began to fishtail. The truck then went off the road and began to rollover.

As the truck rolled, the vehicle struck a large pine tree, crushing the top of the truck’s cabin. Deputies said the woman died at the scene.

No other occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Deputies don not believe alcohol was a factor, but suspect that the victim may have been texting and driving. Her cell phone was found near her hand.

However, deputies said the mobile device was crushed in the collision, so they might not ever know for sure.
