HPD: Off-duty sergeant arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated

Police said Sargeant Charles Ray Rudd was driving his personal vehicle when he was pulled over and arrested.

HOUSTON — An off-duty sergeant with the Houston Police Department was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated Saturday, according to police.

Police said Sargeant Charles Ray Rudd was driving his personal vehicle when he was pulled over and arrested.

As per standard HPD protocol, he was relieved of duty pending an investigation by the Internal Affairs Division. He was booked into the Harris Couty Jail.

Sgt. Rudd, assigned to the West Side Patrol Division, was sworn in as an officer in May 2003.

HPD said they hold their officers to the highest standards and will take action up to and including termination.
