HOUSTON — One man was killed and another was injured Monday in a "targeted" shooting at a gas station in southeast Houston, police said.
Police released surveillance photos of the men they believe are responsible for the deadly shooting.
This happened shortly after 7 p.m. on S Wayside Drive near Telephone Road and the Gulf Freeway.
According to Houston police, four people in a black Cadillac Escalade had driven to the gas station to do some shopping. As soon as they got back inside the Escalade, two vehicles pulled up near them -- a gray four-door Dodge Charger and a gray four-door Mercedes sedan. Police said there were two gunmen inside each one of those vehicles armed with long rifles.
All four gunmen reportedly got out of their cars and started shooting, police said. Video from the scene showed the windshield of the Escalade riddled with bullet holes.
At least two of the victims in the Escalade were shot. One of them, age 34, died and the other, age 29, was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The suspects got back inside of the cars and drove off on Telephone Road. As of Monday night, they have yet to be caught.
“I do believe that these individuals and the Escalade were targeted,” HPD Asst. Chief Adrian Rodriguez said. :And our homicide detectives will be interviewing the two that we have currently on scene to gather more information as to what exactly occurred on the on scene today, tonight at this location.”
Police said they were all men and three of them were wearing white shirts and white pants. The fourth suspect had on a white shirt with black pants.
