Harold Farb's family renews call for justice in legendary developer's death

HOUSTON, Texas – The family of a legendary Houston developer is demanding justice more than a decade after his death.

Harold Farb was found dead in his River Oaks mansion 12 years ago.

And conflicting autopsy reports continue to cause concerns.

“It’s not just because my grandfather was someone that a lot of people knew,” said grandson Al Farb. “Any family deserves the right to know how their loved one became deceased.”

Al Farb joined his father and former investigative report Wayne Dolcefino to demand action.

“They believe it was murder,” said Dolcefino.

“And all we’re trying to do at this point is to get answers,” said Al Farb. “We want to know exactly what happened to my grandfather.”

Farb’s 83-year-old grandfather was found dead in a shower at his home in River Oaks in 2006.

The official cause of death was underdetermined; however, the autopsy report suggests a recently implanted catheter had been cut, which lead to uncontrollable bleeding.

The family paid for an outside assessment two years ago.

“Based on the aforementioned facts, it is my opinion that, in all medical probability, this is a homicide,” wrote well-known pathologist Vincent Di Maio.

If nothing else, the family would like access to the HPD case file regarding Farb’s death.

But that’s something that is not available for investigations that are still open, even if inactive.

“They have reported now to the attorney general of Texas that releasing this report to the family would interfere with the investigation and detection of a crime,” said Dolcefino. “Well, if it’s a crime, then get off your butts and investigate it.”

“The clock is ticking,” said Al Farb. “People’s memories fade, they get older; it’s been 12 years.”

The family would not elaborate on who they suspect may have been involved in Farb’s death, but they do not believe he committed suicide.

Houston police continue to encourage anyone with information in the case to contact them.
