LA PORTE, Texas — A diesel truck sparked a large grass fire in La Porte Wednesday afternoon.
The fire spread just east of the Fred Hartman Bridge at Spillmans Island. The smoke from the fire could be seen for miles.
Multiple agencies assisted with extinguishing the fire that was tapped out sometime around 8 p.m., officials said, though the La Porte Fire Department said it stuck around to put out additional hotspots and to recover two grass rigs that were caught in the fire.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
