Glitch causes Houston doctor to be listed as "Dr. dummy dummy" on CVS pharmacy app

After KHOU pointed it out to CVS, the pharmacy put a fix in place so this doesn't happen again.

A woman had questions after her CVS prescription called her doctor, 'Dr. dummy dummy'

HOUSTON — A Houston woman is trying to figure out why her physician’s name appeared as “Dr. Dummy” on two prescriptions sent to CVS.

Trudie Cole noticed the error last week when she checked if her prescriptions were ready for pick-up on CVS’ app.

Both prescriptions listed the prescribing doctor as “Dr. Dummy Dummy” online.

She says her doctor’s name, Mansoora Sheikh, has been printed correctly in the past. She has gotten prescriptions filled at the pharmacy on Tomball Parkway for years.

“I was outraged. I’m like, ‘Why would they do that? Why would they put her name in as Dr. Dummy Dummy?’ There’s no “D” in her name anywhere, so it wasn’t a misspelling,” said Cole.

It turns out, the word “dummy” wasn’t meant to be disrespectful.

A CVS spokesperson sent the following statement Wednesday:

“We have looked into Ms. Cole’s complaint and learned that our website experienced a glitch in which information from a “dummy” test account was inadvertently pulled into the field where a doctor’s name would normally appear in her online patient profile. We have blocked this from occurring again and are in the process of correcting the glitch.

CVS Pharmacy has apologized to Ms. Cole. We will be contacting her to explain that the reference from the test account that was mistakenly visible in her online profile was in no way associated with her or her doctor.”
