HOUSTON — A new smart technology vending machine at Bush Airport is making organic period products free and easily accessible for travelers.

The Aunt Flow vending machine is an initiative between Houston Airports and TRAX Analytics that uses real-time data monitoring to ensure organic pads and tampons are always available to airport guests.

While free tampons and pads have been available inside restrooms at Bush and Hobby Airports for over a decade, there were never any ways to actively monitor the supply.

This led to some airport visitors purchasing period products unexpectedly when dispensers were empty, which can create an inconvenient experience for some travelers.

The TRAX Analytics SmartRestroom technology integrated with the Aunt Flow dispensers allows the airport to monitor and refill supply in real time.

The technology also helps the airport to predict when feminine care products may be in more demand throughout the day.

The Aunt Flow vending machine will soon be available at Hobby Airport. Houston's airports are the first in the U.S. to offer them.
