HCSO: 2 dead, 2 flown to hospital after vehicle crashes into fence and catches fire in NW Harris Co.

Two people believed to be between the ages of 15 to 20 years old, died. Two men, believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, were transported by Life Flight.

HOUSTON — Two people are dead and two others were flown to a hospital after the vehicle they were in crashed into a fence and caught fire in northwest Harris County Sunday evening, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Wright Road, west of US 290 near Jersey Village.

Gonzalez said it appears the vehicle, which several people were in, hit a fence and caught fire.

One of the rear passengers, who was about 15 to 20 years old, was confirmed dead on the scene after being ejected from the vehicle, according to Gonzalez.

He said a woman in a similar age range, who was sitting in the back seat, was transported by ambulance and died at the hospital.

The sheriff said two men, who were riding in the front of the vehicle, were taken to the hospital by Life Flight. Gonzalez said the passenger is believed to be about 17 years old.

The driver appears to be in more critical condition than the passenger, according to Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said it appears speed played a factor in this crash. He said it is believed all riders, minus the front passenger, were not wearing seatbelts.

At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in this crash.

It seems at least three out of the four people in the car were related,  according to Gonzalez.
