Family to donate organs of 5-year-old girl killed in suspected DWI crash

Prosecutors said Isreal Suarez Lugo, 35, was intoxicated when he ran a red light near Harrisburg and 75th street, hitting the family’s sedan.

HOUSTON — A 5-year-old girl who was left brain damaged and on life support after a suspected DWI crash last Sunday has died, according to the family.

A family member said Giselle Luviano was died Saturday. Her mother, Mayra Medina, said her organs will be donated.

“Her life is going to save the life of other children,” Medina told KHOU 11.

Prosecutors said Isreal Suarez Lugo, 35, was intoxicated when he ran a red light near Harrisburg and 75th street, hitting Medina’s sedan. Inside the Cadillac was Medina, her sister and two of Medina's children.

The family was heading home from a Sweet 16 party when they were hit.

Lugo was charged with two counts of intoxication assault the day the accident happened. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
