Services planned for Conroe police officer who died after tornado ripped through his home

Lt. Waller and his wife were injured when a tornado hit their mobile home on April 28.

CONROE, Texas — A Conroe police officer will be laid to rest Thursday after he died from injuries he received when a tornado ripped through his mobile home in Trinity County last month.

The funeral service for Lt. Jimmy Waller is scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 9 at The Ark Church, located at 450 Humble Tank Road. A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 1801 White Oak Drive.

Waller and his wife were injured in the storm on April 28. A neighbor found the lieutenant under debris and his wife in a pasture.

“I heard him moan and I just kind of started digging around, found him up in the trailer home, underneath the frame," Brant Pee said. “I found his wife about halfway out to the pond in the pasture."

Pee said he quickly called 911 as winds continued to whip through the area.

Waller was taken to a hospital where he underwent multiple surgeries. He died five days later.

Waller was a 22-year veteran with the Conroe Police Department.
