Building on Lone Star College-University Park campus partially evacuated due to haz-mat spill

Three people were transported to the hospital out of precaution after acid was spilled on the sixth floor of a building on the Lone Star College-University Park campus.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Three people were transported to the hospital out of precaution after acid was spilled on the sixth floor of a building on the Lone Star College-University Park campus.

This happened just before 10:30 a.m. at Building 12/13 on the campus located in northwest Harris County.

Students and staff were ordered to calmly evacuate the sixth floor of the building, school officials said.

The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office says there was an acid spill and the ventilation system was shut down.

Campus police say the spill was contained to the sixth floor of the building and other buildings did not need to be evacuated.
