HOUSTON - A man accused of using a crowbar to kill his wife is on trial for capital murder in downtown Houston.

Jason Bouchard is accused of first setting his house on fire, and then allegedly killing his estranged wife, Terri San-Vicente, with the crowbar. All of this happening while their three young children watched.

In court, prosecutors played the 911 call made by the children s babysitter. You can hear the dispatcher trying to keep her and the children safe as fire and smoke fill the home.

Before the trial began, Bouchard surprised the court and fired his court-appointed attorneys. The judge is allowing him to represent himself, but he won t be able to use that as grounds for appeal.
