RICHMOND, Texas — At least two people are dead and more are hurt after a major crash Friday in Fort Bend County.

This crash happened near FM 359 and Southern Place, in the western portion of the county near Richmond.

Crash investigators from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office tell KHOU 11 News the driver of a Honda Civic was trying to turn in to Plantation Furniture store’s parking lot when the car was hit by a southbound Dodge Durango.

Deputies say the Civic turned in front of the oncoming SUV. The violent impact tore the rear passenger door off of the Honda car. The two people in the back seat were thrown out. They both died at the hospital.

Another victim was flown by LifeFlight, with an injury to the head, to a hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

The sheriff’s office expects the southbound lanes of FM 359 to be shut down well into the evening as investigators work to reconstruct the accident.
