Want to sleep better? There's an app(s) for that!

We run down some of the most popular apps for different sleep styles.

HOUSTON —

We are wrapping up this week’s focus on sleep with a some tools to make getting shut eye a little easier. Choosing an app all depends on how you sleep.

Clearing your head can be tough as you go to bed. That’s where apps like Headspace help. It offers a variety of meditations to get you to conk out. It’s free in the App Store.

Calm is also free. It lets you choose between meditation and good, old-fashioned bedtime stories. The popular app has won all kinds of awards if you want to download it and give it a try.

Maybe you just need to drown out those thoughts and everything else you can hear around the house. Pzizz offers a kind of sleep soundtrack for you using psychoacoustics. It also has plenty of free features.

Consider Sleep Cycle as a kind of supplement to those other apps. You can set a window when you want to get up. Then it tracks your sleep patterns using your microphone and doesn’t wake you up until you hit your lightest phase of sleep. That way, you’re less groggy.
