KATY, Texas — Katy ISD is under investigation by the Education Department's Office of Civil Rights over the district's gender identity policy.
The policy calls for the district to notify parents if their child requests to use a different name or pronouns at school.
A complaint filed in December claims the policy endangers students via gender identity discrimination and it pushes harmful stereotypes.
In a statement, Katy ISD denied any wrongdoing.
"The district is committed to offering equal educational opportunities to our entire community. While we have received the OCR filing and deny any wrongdoing, we are committed to remaining fully cooperative and responsive throughout the process."
