Columbia Brazoria ISD cancels classes after strong storms knock out power, internet

CBISD confirmed to KHOU 11 that no damage had been reported to its facilities as of 6:30 a.m. Cleveland ISD is closing its C9 campus early due to a power outage.

WEST COLUMBIA, Texas — Columbia Brazoria ISD canceled classes Wednesday morning after overnight storms knocked out the district's power and internet, the district posted on Facebook.

CBISD confirmed to KHOU 11 that no damage had been reported to its facilities as of 6:30 a.m.

There will be no school for CBISD today, Wednesday April 10th due to power, phone and internet outages.

The overnight storms brought strong winds that knocked down street signs and trees in some areas of Southeast Texas.

Cleveland ISD is closing the C9 campus early due to a power outage. 

"Parents of car riders may pick up their students at the Cleveland High School campus. Car riders will remain at CHS until they are able to be picked up," CISD said in a statement. "Bus riders will be dropped off at their normal bus stops beginning at 11:00AM."

We have not heard reports of other districts in the area closing. Lone Star College-Atascocita Center delayed its opening until 9 a.m. due to outages.
