Suspect sought after woman fatally shot in Houston's northside

The suspect is not in custody.

HOUSTON — Cold blooded is how a north Houston family described the shooting death of woman on Saturday morning.

Houston Police are on the hunt for the gunman.

The shooting happened Saturday morning in the parking lot of the Pine Lake Village Apartments near the Beltway and Greens Parkway. In that parking lot, Anthony Sloan’s life was shattered in an instant.

“I was awaken by loud screams,” Sloan said. “I could hear my wife outside shouting and screaming. Come to find out my daughter had been murdered.”

Sloan said his daughter had just put her baby to sleep and was getting ready to study.

“She was coming to the car, and they are on the ground to get her papers to study for her state exam," Sloan said.

Sloan said his daughter was set to graduate in December with a master’s degree in social work. Instead, he said she was shot in the back of the head next to her car.

“She did her internship and she studied for class and she worked and took care of her baby,” he said.

HPD isn’t releasing the name or description of the possible suspect.

However, Sloan said his daughter knew her killer.

“I hope that he would find it in himself to turn himself in, but I’m going to tell you something: That’s a very low individual,” he exclaimed.

As HPD continues to investigate, Sloan urged anyone with information to come forward.

You can call Houston Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS (8477).
