Police searching for man accused in shooting death of his sister outside SE Houston gas station

Police said the victim, 24-year-old Sarah Taplin, and another unidentified woman got into an argument.
Witnesses told police two women were arguing about a man when one of them pulled a gun and shot the other in the head, then ran away.

HOUSTON — A man is wanted by Houston police after they say he shot and killed his sister in the city's southeast side Saturday night.

It happened outside a gas station on MLK Boulevard near West Bellfort Avenue. 

Police said the victim, 24-year-old Sarah Taplin, and another unidentified woman got into an argument. Police originally said it was over a man. 

According to police, the suspect, 35-year-old Richard Taplin, took a gun from someone nearby and shot at the unidentified woman while she ran away.

Police said Richard was shooting indiscriminately into a crowded gas station across the street. During the shooting, his sister was struck at least once. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richard left the scene. Police consider him to be armed and dangerous. 

He is now charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carry of a weapon with a felony conviction, according to police.

Editor's note: Houston police originally said that a woman shot another woman, based on witness accounts. In a news release, police updated it, saying a man shot the woman, who turned out to be his sister.
