Man charged in shooting death of 74-year-old woman at assisted living facility in west Houston, police say

Houston police said the victim, Carol Webber, 74, and the suspect, Clifton John Allen, 66, were previously involved in a dating relationship.

HOUSTON — A man has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a woman at an assisted living facility in west Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The victim was identified as Carol Webber, 74. Clifton John Allen, 66, is charged with murder.

It happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at a facility on Westerland Drive just north of Westheimer Road and east of South Gessner Road. Houston police said officers responded to a call of a deceased person at the facility and found Webber unresponsive on the floor of her apartment.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the coroner's report, Webber's death was ruled a homicide and she had been shot in her head.

Further investigation identified Allen as a suspect in this incident. He and Ms. Webber were previously involved in a dating relationship.

Officers arrested Allen on Friday, April 26.
