HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A man has been charged with arson after deputies said he intentionally set his home on fire while his wife and kids were inside.
Jimmy Klayton Lauder, 31, is also charged with child endangerment.
Fortunately, the wife and their two small kids were able to get out of the house safely. A working smoke alarm alerted the wife. She was able to call 911 and quickly escape with the help of first responders.
This happened Sunday at about 4:30 a.m. in the 12000 block of Rockharbor Lane.
The Harris County Fire Marshal said Lauder used an ignitable liquid to start the fire. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez with the Harris County Sheriff's Office says Lauder was possibly intoxicated.
"We are extremely grateful that no one was injured in this fire and that the female victim and her two children are safe," said Fire Marshal Laurie L. Christensen.
