Police searching for shooting suspect after Montrose-area SWAT standoff turns out to be false alarm

Houston police originally thought the suspect was in an apartment on Richmond but they discovered it was empty after calling SWAT and hostage negotiators.

HOUSTON — Houston police were still searching for a shooting suspect after a SWAT standoff Sunday in the Montrose area turned out to be a false alarm.

The victim was shot multiple times and died at the hospital.

Houston police originally thought the suspect was in an apartment in the 1900 block of Richmond Avenue, but they discovered it was empty after calling SWAT and hostage negotiators.

After getting a search warrant, police discovered the apartment was empty.

Authorities said the apartment will be processed for evidence and the crime scene on the street will also be examined.
