Sheriff: 2 people shot, killed at 21-year-old's birthday party in Jacinto City

The sheriff said there were around 50 people at the party, including a band. Jacinto City police were called out after at least two people were shot.

JACINTO CITY, Texas — At least two people were shot and killed early Saturday morning when a shooting broke out at a 21-year-old's birthday party in Jacinto City, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

This happened on Muscatine Street around 1 a.m.

The sheriff said there were around 50 people at the party, including a band. Jacinto City police were called out after the shooting. The two shooting victims were taken to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Gonzalez identified the men as Christian Rangel, 30, and Candelario Gonzalez Jr., 22. Investigators believe the two men may have gotten into a fight with each other.

Gonzalez said no one has been detained. There's no word on the shooter or shooters at this time.

It's unclear whether the victims were guests of the party.

The sheriff's office is investigating the shooting along with the Jacinto City Police Department.
