Man shoots daughter's stepfather who she accused of sexual abuse, Houston police say

According to the Houston Police Department, this started when the daughter left her mother a note accusing her stepfather of sexual abuse.

HOUSTON — A man shot his daughter's stepfather Friday night at an apartment in west Houston after she accused the stepfather of sexual abuse, police said.

This happened at an apartment complex on Bateswood Drive, which is just south of the Katy Freeway east of the Sam Houston Tollway, at around 8:30 p.m.

According to the Houston Police Department, this started when the daughter left her mother a note accusing her stepfather of sexual abuse. The mother was discussing the situation with the biological father at the apartment when the stepfather came back home and reportedly denied the allegations.

That's when Houston police said the mother and daughter stepped out of the apartment and the biological father shot the stepfather three times - once in the stomach and twice in the legs.

The stepfather was taken to an area hospital in what police described as bad shape.

The father is expected to be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police said he stayed at the scene and was cooperating with officers.

Investigators were talking with the child to determine the validity of the allegations. It's unclear whether the stepfather will be charged.
