Man critically injured, teen hurt when gunman shot into their car in southeast Houston, police say

HPD said no one witnessed the shooting and there's no word on a suspect or why they opened fire.

HOUSTON — A man and a teen were injured when a gunman opened fire several times into their vehicle Friday night in southeast Houston, police say. The man is not expected to survive.

This happened on Broadway Street south of Bellfort Avenue around 10 p.m.

According to the Houston Police Department, the victims had been driving in the area when someone fired several shots into their vehicle. The driver lost control of the car and crashed into a tree.

People who witnessed the crash tried to provide aid to the driver. He was taken to an area hospital and is not expected to survive. The teen, who is believed to be around 16 years old, took off but later returned to the scene and was also taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso. He's expected to be OK.

HPD said no one witnessed the shooting and there's no word on a suspect or why they opened fire.
