5-year-old girl hurt in shooting after fight breaks out outside southwest Houston party hall, police say

Police said two people in the parking lot had gotten into a fight when they both started shooting at each other, causing people in the area to flee.

HOUSTON — Police are looking for two suspects after a fight led to a shooting outside a southwest Houston party venue early Sunday morning. Houston police said a 5-year-old girl was hurt during the incident.

This happened around midnight at a venue on Sanford Road near the intersection of West Bellfort Avenue and Fondren Road.

Police said two people in the parking lot had gotten into a fight when they both started shooting at each other, causing people in the area to flee. In the commotion, the 5-year-old girl was grazed in the leg by a piece of glass, HPD said. The girl was taken to an area hospital where she's expected to be OK.

There's no word on the shooters yet. It's unclear if they were involved with the party. Police said investigators were reviewing security video to try to identify the suspects.
