HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department Robbery Division is looking for a man accused of shooting another man in the Alief area over a pair of Crocs shoes last month.

Police said the victim, a man experiencing homelessness, was sleeping outside a business on Bissonnet Street just east of S Dairy Ashford Road on Sept. 13 shortly before 3 a.m. when the suspect came up to him and took the shoes. Police said that's when the man pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times before taking off.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds to both legs, his right arm and hand, and his chest, according to HPD. Officials said he is expected to survive after undergoing a number of surgeries.

Police said the victim told them the man had come up to him several hours before the shooting happened and asked him for the shoes, but the victim refused.

In the surveillance video provided by HPD, the suspect appears to leave the scene without the shoes.

HPD described the suspect as around 19 years old, 108 pounds and 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing a black jacket and had a light mustache and an afro.

If you have any information regarding the incident, you're asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477 (TIPS). Information that leads to the charging and/or arrest of a felony suspect may be worth a cash reward of up to $5,000.
