Bystander killed, man hurt after hookah bar fight leads to shooting in southwest Houston, police say

The 34-year-old woman was killed after two groups of men were kicked out of a hookah bar for fighting and someone opened fire in the parking lot, police say.

HOUSTON — A woman is dead after she was hit by a stray bullet when two groups of men got into a fight at a hookah bar in southwest Houston early Sunday morning, police say.

According to the Houston Police Department, this happened around 1:20 a.m. when two groups of two men were kicked out of the Vegas Hookah Bar & Grill located near the Southwest Freeway and Beltway 8.

As the two groups of men were leaving, at least one of them pulled out a gun and shot several times, hitting an innocent bystander and a man.  

The bystander, a 34-year-old woman, died at the scene. Her name hasn't been released.

The 29-year-old man who was shot was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. 

Two other men, including the one who opened fire, ran off.  

Witnesses couldn't describe the suspects.
