Police said three of the food truck's workers were about to close up for the night when the suspect came up and tried to rob them at gunpoint.

HOUSTON — A food truck owner was shot and killed Friday morning at a gas station near Hobby Airport, according to the Houston Police Department.

This happened around 3:50 a.m. The food truck was at a gas station located at the intersection of Monroe Road and the Gulf Freeway.

Police said three of the food truck's workers, including the owner, were about to close up for the night when the suspect came up and tried to rob them at gunpoint. The suspect reportedly made his way into the food truck.

"A scuffle ensued and it spilled out of the food truck into the parking lot," said HPD Detective Michael Castillo. "During that scuffle was when our victim was shot multiple times. We're going to be canvassing the area for cameras, surveillance. It looks like there's a couple of cameras both outside and inside the food truck."

Police said the victim appeared to be a man in his 20s. The two other workers were treated for their injuries and gave statements to investigators.
